I read the article about SSG Salvatore Giunta being the only living recipient of the Medal of Honor in Afghanistan, and my antenna flashed a cynical warning, and a flashback to Bush's fake hero, Pat Tillman.
The name, country, President and circumstances are different; but the smell is eerily similar -- unpopular war, unpopular President, strange circumstances, no creditable witnesses, miraculous hero and the heavy scent of a hustle.
Take a look in that kids eyes, then watch an episode of the Fox TV show "Lie to Me", and you'll get that same queasy feeling in your gut that this is another White House-save-some-face sham. When you can't justify a fake war, create a fake hero. No one will challenge you ..... initially.
